Congratulations to Dave Harris, a long-time student of The Ultima, for being awarded his Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under the Brazilian Top Team.

Pan-American Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship Results
Congratulations to Joe Solorio and Mike Romero for receiving medals at the tournament. Joe received a Silver medal in the Senior 2 Blue Belt Heavy Weight Division and a Bronze medal in the Blue Belt Absoluto Division. Mike received a Silver medal in the Senior 1 Blue Belt Super Heavy Weight Division.
We look forward to seeing them as well as our other BJJ fighters compete in the World Championships June 5-8, 2008.

Summer is just around the corner and pretty soon it will be too hot to wear our doboks (uniform tops). Beginning May 27th students will be allowed to wear a school t-shirt instead.

Thornydale Road Improvement Project
(Orange Grove Road to Canyon del Oro Wash)
The Project consists of reconstructing Thornydale Road to six lanes with multi-use lanes, curb and gutter, a landscaped median, sidewalks, traffic signal modifications, and drainage improvements. This project will provide improved capacity, safety, efficiency and movement of traffic along this stretch of Thornydale Road.
Traffic will be maintained in each direction while providing access to all businesses and residences in the project area. Green "Business Access" signs will be prominently placed to direct traffic into our center during the entire improvement project.
After the first of the year (2008), traffic on Thornydale Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction with a center left-turn lane. Thornydale Road will open to two lanes of traffic in each direction during the summer while final paving and landscaping occurs, with anticipated project completion, including Thornydale Road opening to three lanes of traffic in each direction, in fall of 2008.
